Marathon Thermopylae Delphi (One day tour - 12 hours)

Marathon -Thermopylae - Delphi tour starts from Athens. Suggested departure time 7.30 am (do not hesitate to request another terminal)... Visit the battlefields of Marathon and the tombs of the Athenian soldiers who died in the battle. We will drive to Marathon bay, and maybe see the killing marshes ...next we will visit the Marathon museum 6km farther...

Leave Marathon for the drive to Thermopylae stopping to see the statue of Leonidas. This is a tour strictly to see the battlefields and the scenery, there are few ancient ruins to see. The morphology of the ground has changed due to erosion by rain and sea. You can still get a good idea of how the battle must have been and where it took place. Next we will visit the new interactive museum, where we get info and watch an informative detailed 3d video of the battle.

Delphi Museum

We leave Thermopylae and take the road to Mount Parnassus, where we will drive by Anopaia - Atrapos Odos , a secret path, hidden and difficult to traverse that began near the Asopos river and ended at a small decline after the third narrow passage of Thermopylae. In 480 BC, in the battle of Thermopylae, the traitor Ephialtis, knowledgeable of the area, revealed its existence to the Persians resulting in the flanking of the Greek forces and the sacrifice of Leonidas and his 300 Spartans." We continue for Delphi... via Mount Parnassus.











We visit Delphi and the Oracle of Apollo which the Greeks would consult before battles... Visit Museum, and have lunch or dinner with a great view of Corinthian Gulf. Return to Athens at late evening.
