Marathon Thermopylae Battles Tour (up to 8 hours)

Marathon Thermopylae tour starts from Athens in the morning (do not hesitate to request another terminal), drives through the fertile plain of Messogia. Visit the battlefields of Marathon and the tombs of the Athenian soldiers who died in the battle. We will drive to Marathon bay...and we will visit the museum 6km farther.

The Athens Marathon is like no other on Earth. According to legend, it covers the same ground that the Athenian messenger Phiedippides ran when he brought news of victory from the battlefield of Marathon 2,500 years ago. Visit the starting line. The finish line is in Athens’ magnificent Olympic Stadium, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games.




Leave Marathon for the drive to Thermopylae stopping to see the statue of Leonidas. This is a tour strictly to see the battlefields and the scenery, there are few ancient ruins to see. We will drive to Thermopylae, stopping to see the statue of Leonidas. This is a tour strictly to see the battlefields and the scenery, there are few ancient ruins to see.

The morphology of the ground has changed due to erosion by rain and sea. You can still get a good idea of how the battle must have been and where it took place.
